Kajplats Housing Complex

Description
The orientation of the building is clearly related to the sea. Big windows open up the rooms to the elements outside, the stairs move towards the horizon and the very structure, with its solid walls, stands fast as a breakwater. No balconies punctuate the wall, but courtyard and rooftop have sheltered spots for sun worship. The building conforms to the precinct plan created for the 2001 housing expo, while the section with transverse two-storey flats breaches the conventions of apartment blocks.
