Angelo Bruhns, a Cariocan architect, is famous for his neo-colonial architecture which he implemented in residential neighborhoods. However, he adopts a classic Modernist repertoire in this building. Like its neighbor, the building is recessed by 2.5m on one side, according to the limit of 39m (11 floors) ordained by law no 92 of 1941, for certain streets and public spaces like the Praça Dom José Gaspar which the building overlooks. The main body then rises to 60m. The Alfredo Mathias construction company was involved in many projects at this time: Edifício Santa Branca [3.3], Conjunto Nacional [7.1], Centro Comercial Bom Retiro [7.6], Centro Comercial Presidente [8.2].
